Selfless Leadership Making a Difference In Our Community

On Friday, June 30, members of the community, including friends, family, and supporters, along with local elected officials from the cities of Wildomar, Murrieta and Temecula joined me as we honored the recipients for the 2023 AD71 Woman of the Year, Janette Chun, and 2023 Non-profit of the Year, Community Outreach Ministry, and their founders Bob and Dr. Mona Davies. A special ‘Thank You’ to the City of Murrieta for hosting us at the Murrieta Public Library.

2023 Woman of the Year: Janette Chun

As a young woman, Janette experienced the challenges of being a single, teen mother of a child with special needs. This led to her compassion and love for those facing similar experiences of unplanned pregnancies.

Understanding similar challenges many in our community face, Janette began serving as the CEO of Birth Choice Centers. Her goal was to ensure that families were able to receive the assistance they need, free of charge, to thrive as parents and be valuable members of our community.

In just under ten years, Janette has grown Birth Choice Centers from one center in Temecula to three free-standing centers, a mobile clinic, and a resale boutique. Even more impressive is that this was all done during the constraints of the pandemic lockdowns. Today, Birth Choice continues to expand its Riverside County services and Janette is excited for what the future holds.

2023 Non-Profit of the Year: Community Outreach Ministry

Community Outreach Ministry of Wildomar is dedicated to helping at-risk kids break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, drugs, violence, delinquency, gangs, and incarceration. I am so grateful to have them in our district. Community Outreach Ministry’s mission is to focus on early intervention which has increased children’s abilities to become first-generation high school graduates. These programs are giving at-risk kids an incredible opportunity to excel and succeed.
